Whispering Pines Motocross Park just north of Kamloops has developed into one of the top motocross facilities in the province. Thanks to the executive organization of the Greater Kamloops Motorcycle Association (GKMA), the facility stood on its own and came out on top.

For the 2007 season, the track will host eight Canadian Motosport Racing Club (CMRC)-sanctioned Kyocera/Brock Hoyer HiPoint Series races, as well as a provincial qualifier and the BC Provincial Championships.

The Kyocera/Brock Hoyer HiPoint Series began on April 14th and will wrap up in late October. The racing at Whispering Pines will break for the CMRC Nationals starting in mid-June and will restart with the BC Provincial Championships in September.

The weekend of April 28 and 29 presented a great doubleheader. The second race of the Kyocera/Brock Hoyer HiPoint Series was held on Saturday and the PNWMA/GKMA Big Kahuna Cross Country was on Sunday. Over 350 riders attended these two races.

The third Kyocera/Brock Hoyer HiPoint Series race was held May 26, followed by the Interior BC Championship Qualifier on May 27.

Support for the sport

Whispering Pines was the benefactor of a generous donation of a Cat IT 14C Loader from Highland Valley Copper. Jim Small and his father, Glen, have kept the machinery operating and the track in top-notch groomed condition.

The Kamloops track has made great strides in its watering system, built and maintained by Willi Watchel. Hundreds of metres of PVC has kept the dry Kamloops dust under control. A bike wash station has also proven to be popular; it ensures riders can start and end their race day with a clean bike.

Kyocera Canada and Rod Runzer of Gold Business Technologies in Kamloops have committed financial assistance and Rod has been very supportive of both the riders and the series. With Susan Harris and Lee Patjas working the tower as well as the Hystad family at both ends of the track, the 2007 race season is shaping up to be one of the best ever. Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy some family fun, either as a spectator or on their bike.

Whispering Pines race schedule:
• Saturday, June 9th Kyocera/Brock Hoyer HiPoint Series
• Saturday, September 1st BC Provincial Championships, Practice & Moto 1
• Sunday, September 2nd BC Provincial Championships, Moto 2 & 3
• Saturday, September 15th Kyocera/Brock Hoyer HiPoint Series
• Saturday, October 6th Kyocera/Brock Hoyer HiPoint Series
• Saturday, October 20th Kyocera/ Brock Hoyer HiPoint Series
