Elkford, British Columbia
The ATV/BC Jamboree and AGM will be hosted by the Elkford ATV club this year
Elkford is a memorable venue for this province-wide event
This summer, anyone who is passionate about ATVing should do themselves the favour of going to Elkford for the ATV/BC annual general meeting and jamboree. Supporting the ATV/BC organization is the best way to ensure that ATVers present as a unified voice.

The event begins with the AGM on August 21st.
The next two days will feature guided quad tours in the Elkford area, which includes some of the purest alpine mountain terrain in the province. Expect stands of lodgepole pine, the smell of alpine fir forests and an extensive network of trails and secondary roads. The continental divide runs through this area, so it is possible to marvel at the sheer limestone wall that kept BC a secret for so long.
On the 22nd, jamboree goers will sit down to dinner at the banquet. In 2004, the last time Elkford hosted the jamboree, 229 people gathered at the dinner. Gordon Galloway, director of the club, recalled how well the 2004 event went.
“Everbody had a great time here. As we go around the province, people still talk about Elkford in 2004—I’m not bragging, but we were set up pretty fair.”
Galloway was quick to credit the assistance of the Creston Valley Quad Squad and the East Kootenay ATV Club for jointly making the 2004 jamboree such a success. This year, Cunningham anticipates that Elkford will see regional industry dealers flocking to the jamboree.

HOW DOES SNOWMOBILING AFFECT CARIBOU?
As most snowmobiling occurs in high elevation areas, there is the potential for snowmobiling to disturb and displace these animals from their preferred habitat into areas less suitable and more prone to avalanches. Mountain caribou may also become stressed, which can affect energy reserves during critical time periods. In addition, snowmobile trails can provide easier access for predators into areas occupied by mountain caribou. Please take caution and be aware of, and avoid, mountain caribou in your riding area.
