The Lac La Biche area is a gateway to outdoor recreation and activity. This summer, visit some of the region’s 150 lakes, marvel at the town’s history and participate in the Plamondon Mud Bogs.

A wonderfully muddy event, the Plamondon Mud Bogs are taking place in Plamondon on August 16 and 17.
Shirley Michaud, a volunteer for the Plamondon Mud Bogs, said the people who compete love what they are doing and the amount of time and money participants put into their vehicles is astounding.
“The Canadian Mud Racers Organization (CMRO) runs these circuits each summer and these fellows make their cars specifically for that,” said Michaud. “They will put thousands of dollars—and I am talking $30,000 or $40,000—into it to get a vehicle set up so that they can compete.”
When the first day’s events are over, the eight fastest vehicles of the day will compete in a shootout race for a grand prize of $2,500. Although this cash prize and other smaller prizes are there to be won, Michaud said people do not compete for the prizes but rather because of the joy they get from racing.
“They do it so they can race,” she said. “They have a lot of fun doing what they do.”
