Situated in the northeastern region of British Columbia, Tumbler Ridge is a haven for wilderness adventures. Magnificent mountain ridges and valleys abound with waterfalls, caves, alpine vistas and other geological formations. These features alone will take your breath away before you have a chance to discover the amazing ATVing opportunities.
According to Dennis Payment, a resident and avid ATVer in Tumbler Ridge, there is no figure that can be placed on the amount of trails in this area.
"There's hundreds and hundreds of miles," said Payment. "Last summer we put on—and it's unusual for quads—about 1,700 miles of riding."
A huge network of backcountry roads, seismic lines and rough cut trails make up most of the area's riding. The most popular places to ride are Bull Moose Mountain and Roman Mountain. These areas have easy trails as well as rougher routes for those wanting a challenge. One of the most noteworthy features of ATVing in Tumbler Ridge is the scenery that, according to Payment, is second to none.
"Everybody that comes up here and the people that live here just love it."
In fact, the scenery is so amazing that Payment and his riding buddies finally gave up on taking pictures.
"There's such panoramic views in the areas we go into that pictures just don't justify it," said Payment. "It's something you have to see."
ATVers will be happy to know that Tumbler Ridge has a lot to offer in terms of community services. In addition to being ATV friendly, the town has great accommodations, dining establishments and recreation facilities. It is also the site of B.C.'s most important fossil discoveries. Visitors can still view multiple trackways, footprints and other fossils at Tumbler Ridge.
Whether you want to climb to the highest peak on your ATV, explore the town or take the family on an easy trail ride, Tumbler Ridge has it all.
